Editor's Review:

Sage Business Cloud Accounting is one of the most widely used and trusted accounting software providers around. They offer two distinct packages, each of which offers superb value for money and an impressive array of features. However it doesn't excel in all areas and it's better suited to small-medium companies than very large organisations. That said, its Accounting Standard package provides collaboration tools to allow you to work on accounts with other users. Meanwhile, its systems are incredibly secure, with regular data back-ups and bank-level encryption methods.

At just $9 a month you may be surprised at how effective Safe One Invoicing is at providing small businesses with a professional way of creating invoices and managing their contacts. You can also receive unpaid invoice reports, letting you know when an invoice has not been paid. You can then follow up these missing payments in a timely manner. The Invoicing package also allows you to receive payments using PayPal or the Safe Payment Solutions system. Upgrading to Sage Business Cloud Accounting Accounting Standard is considerably more expensive when compared with Sage Business Cloud Accounting Invoicing, but we feel that it still offers great value for money as its list of features is impressive and the package is still a fair bit cheaper than industry standard. This package allows you a much broader variety of accountancy tools, file storage capabilities, project and task tracking, an interactive dashboard and unlimited collaborators. Essentially the differences between the packages are these: Invoicing allows you to send invoices, store contacts and track payments, whereas Accounts Standard really lets you get to grips with the ins and outs of your accounts.

Each system is available on the cloud, meaning that you can access your accounts from anywhere. As we mentioned briefly already, this data is encrypted to a high standard and regularly backed up, so your sensitive data is safe and sound. The software works on a range of mobile devices, allowing you to do your accounting on the move if needed. Sage also offer unique construction and real estate options which are industry specific and allow you to update projects quickly. Extra information is also provided for medium sized businesses, fledgling companies and Human Resources, allowing you to understand how the system can be best applied throughout different factions of an organization. There is a great range of products specifically designed for unique geographic locations, contractors or business types. You can also check out the site's support section, which includes a range of useful articles . These can be rated by users, meaning you can simply check out the most relevant and highly regarded pieces. Live chat support with a trained specialist is also available if you need assistance, and there's a newsroom with top stories regarding financial issues.

Sage does a lot of things right but it doesn't quite push all the buttons. There are a few features that we've seen elsewhere which might benefit some users, yet they aren't found here. Its dashboard gives a good overview once you're used to it but it can seem a little intimidating for beginners. However, generally we're nitpicking. If you think Sage might be of use to you then we'd certainly recommend testing it out using their free trial period. If you're a small retailer who just needs to create, send and track invoices then its Invoice package is a bit of a bargain, but for most small-medium companies we'd recommend trying out the Accounting Standard package.
