Kashoo might sound like a rich man's sneeze, but it's actually a user-friendly accounting system that provides simple solutions to general accounting problems. It also includes an award winning iPad app, adding extra value for anyone with an iPad who wishes to utilise cloud technology.

This system is all about making your accounts a bit easier. Its layout is simple enough for laymen to understand, with no-nonsense wording and advice. Since you can use an iPad app you can also flick through your records and books with your finger, giving it a much more visceral quality than most accounting packages. Its features are controlled through a central dashboard, a sort of birds-eye view of your data, which also allows you to easily import information from banks, receipts and invoices. 

Security is another consideration for Kashoo, who have gone to some efforts to make sure that your data is safe and won't be lost. Not only do they provide bank-level security encryption, they also have regular data back-ups scheduled to make sure that any problems will result in a minimal loss of data. It's reassuring to see, because although many accounting software packages will provide solid security features, they don't make a point of going into the details. Overall, Kashoo seems to be open with how their systems work, providing support when you need it. Likewise, customer support is available either through the on-site FAQ, via phone, a live chat, email or social media. You can also check out the video training library, which provides a great resource for understanding how to make the most from their software. This is impressive, and gives another green light to anyone who feels that they might need a bit of help along the way. 

Prices are low, at just $20 a month, which includes the iPad app (normally around $40 per year). However, this is a system that we feel has been designed for the average-Joe, the person about town, the new business owner, perhaps more than a larger company with specialised financial needs. Accounts specialists may find it too simple at times, and anyone who doesn't have an iPad might prefer to pay a lower monthly fee since they can't take advantage of the “free” app.  

Kashoo could do with a bit more variation in terms of how in depth you can get with your accounts, and how many more sophisticated tasks you can perform. However, it's a great little package for anyone with an iPad who might be new to doing their accounts and may need a bit of a helping hand along the way.
