It's an easy-use accounting software package specially designed for small businesses. This means that it doesn't necessarily offer the greatest range or complexity of accounting options, but if you're not a mathematician then its simple features could come in very handy.

If you want to get a quick idea of what's on offer from Less Accounting then they offer a 90 second overview on their “our value” page, which is well worth watching. The premise is a simple one: reduce the work, time and stress required to do your accounts accurately. They hope to achieve this by allowing you to input and track your accounts through a series of basic features, including the ability to send proposals and invoices, track your expenses and revenue streams, and automatically import banking details. These aren't revolutionary, and you'll find similar features elsewhere in various accounting software packages, but Less Accounting is particularly easy to use, making it a good option if you're new to accounting. In fact much of the site has been organised in such a way, using normal language and not accountant-speak. They also offer a free eBook, entrepreneur guides and small business advice.

The LessAccounting customer base is made up of a varied bunch, not simply accountants. They include creative types, photographers, eCommerce stores, non-profits, shops, hotels and gyms. This gives some idea as to the variety of people who are able to use the software, and the sorts of businesses that might benefit from using it. That said, if you are looking to work on your accounts in more depth, and already have an understanding of how they work, you might find this system a little too simplistic.

In terms of price, you can try out the system using a 14 day free trial. This gives a good opportunity to test it out and to work out how the features work and whether or not they'll be useful to you. The software then costs $36 a month, which is around industry standard. We would like to see an annual package deal, however, to provide a saving for users who wish to take out a year-long contract.

Overall we were impressed by LessAccounting.com. Their site and software is easy to use and provides most of the features that a small business would need. However it isn't for everyone, and you ought to take a good look at the trial period before deciding to pay up for the service. The site is well organised and offers a lot of free, user-friendly information, so if you need any help from customer services then we're sure you'll find them to be of use.
